The Yellow &; White Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral is a lovely creamy-yellow color variety of soft coral often referred to as Sarcophyton Coral, Mushroom, Leather, or Trough Coral. Sarcophyton Corals are found in various shades of brown with white or gold polyps. It's easy to see why Sarcophyton Corals are commonly known as toadstool corals as they are similar in appearance, each with a distinct stalk and capitulum (cap). As they mature, Sarcophyton Corals develop a ruffled, folded appearance.

The Yellow &; White Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral is a hardy, fast-growing coral and makes an excellent coral for the novice through expert reef aquarist. It is relatively peaceful, but adequate space should be provided between it and other corals in the reef aquarium. Some can produce toxins which are harmful to other reef inhabitants. The Yellow &; White Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral will require medium to high lighting conditions achieved by T-5s, powerful LEDs or the more intense metal halides combined with medium to strong water movement within the aquarium. For continued good health, it will also require the addition of iodine, strontium, and other trace elements to the water. The Yellow &; White Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral can be easily propagated (fragged) by experienced reef hobbyists.

The photosynthetic symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within the Yellow &; White Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral satisfies the majority of its nutritional requirements. However, the Yellow &; White Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral will benefit from supplemental feedings in the form of micro-plankton or baby brine shrimp, or foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates. These should be regularly blown across the polyps.

For continued good health, the Yellow &; White Toadstool Mushroom Leather Coral will also require the addition of strontium, iodine, and other trace elements to the water.
