Overview

The Cabomba Plant, also known as the Carolina Fanwort, is an attractive aquatic plant popular among freshwater aquarium hobbyists as well as pond keepers and water gardeners thanks to its relative ease of care and vigorous growth once established. The Cabomba Plant boasts vibrant green coloration with beautiful purple accents and features decorative lacy foliage that is divided into feathery fan-like segments. During summer, the Cabomba Plant is often decorated with lovely emergent white flowers that breach the water surface.

The Cabomba Plant is commercially available in a variety of forms and provides a wide variety of benefits to the aquatic environment. For example, the Cabomba Plant can help improve pond water quality by processing dissolved carbon dioxide and converting it into oxygen vital to goldfish, koi, and other pond fish. In addition to playing an important role in oxygenating pondwater, the Cabomba Plant also consumes nitrogenous waste materials that is not only toxic to pond fish but can also fuel aggressive nuisance algae growth.

The Cabomba Plant should be handled with care when planting as the delicate foliage and stems are susceptible to breakage. The Cabomba Plant can be potted in small aquatic planters or planted directly in gravel on the pond bottom. Once established, the Cabomba Plant grows quickly to provide much needed shade and protection for your pond fish, as well as a potential spawning site for fish. Under ideal conditions, the Cabomba Plant can spread 12-24". Cuttings removed from mature healthy plants can be replanted to help manage growth and to propagate new plants.

The Cabomba Plant (Dozen) includes 12 bunches containing 5 to 7 individual Cabomba plants. Zones 5-11.
