Overview
The Red Parrot is sometimes referred to as the Blood Red Parrot and is the result of crossbreeding different Central American Cichlids. The body of this fish is round in shape with a beak-shaped nose. The color of these fish range from orange to red when mature. As a juvenile, they are dark in color, and they gain the red coloration as they mature.
The Red Parrot requires an aquarium of at least 55 gallons, with a sandy bottom, rocks and plenty of hiding places among the rocks. Live plants should be planted in pots to protect the roots from these fish. The Red Parrot is generally peaceful with other fish of similar size, but can be timid or bullied by other Cichlids.
The Red Parrot is normally infertile and will not successfully breed in the aquarium. They may lay eggs in a cave, but because the males are often times infertile, they usually will not develop.
The Red Parrot is omnivorous and will eat most prepared and frozen foods, including freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, and ocean plankton, as well as flake food and Cichlid pellets.

I have had a Red parrot for three years now and she is the most lively fish in the aquarium. She is the first one to greet you as the tank is approached. She is kind and full of color. She is only agressive when a tank member trys to start something with her. The good thing is when it's done she leaves them alone forever and they have learned their lesson.

i have 2 blood parrots that are about 6 inches long and just bought 3 baby blood parrots. they have shown no aggression. they are a bit shy but once you feed them for a while the will be your best friend. they have the personality of a dog and are the best fish i have ever owned.
