Overview

The Kleiner Bar Sword is a hybrid between Echinodorus barthii and Echinodorus uruguayensis, which gives the adult leaves their red coloration. If the conditions are not ideal, the plant grows more slowly, a bit smaller, and the deep red coloration of the leaves will turn more rust in color. This species is amphibious and will grow either submersed or partially submersed. Requiring little attention after the initial planting, the Kleiner Bar Sword is a great plant for beginners.

The Kleiner Bar Sword requires moderate to high lighting, approximately 3 watts per gallon provided by full spectrum (5000-7000K) bulbs. The temperature of the water should be between 72°-82°F, with an alkalinity of 3-8 dKH and a neutral pH.

The Kleiner Bar Sword propagates by rhizomes or adventitious shoots that grow off of leaves. A prolific plant under most circumstances, the development of a new leaf once a week is not uncommon.

Customer Testimonials

Sylvia Wilkerson Haw River , NC
I purchased the 6 gallon aquarium from Drs Foster & Smith, back in the winter and I also purchased this plant and the Water Sprite. I planted them in the 6 gal. I didn't think the plants would do any good because of the lightning. I tried to find a gro light to fit but they don't have any. But to my surprise, these plants went WILD. This plant is coming out of the aquarium, they are lust and green. I am having to cut the sprite back at least once a week. If you need any plants, these are the ones. The Drs sell lush and fine plants. They are not puny; and the cost for these are good. I've purchased others from my town and there is no comparison. And in this day and time, we all need to spend wisely. I'll be back for more. Thank you DRS Foster & Smith. Sylvia
