Overview
The Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse is also known as the Tricolor Fairy Wrasse, Redheaded Fairy Wrasse, or Red-eyed Fairy Wrasse. Some aquarists consider it to be another color form of the Blueside Wrasse (Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura). The Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse has a blue body with bright red running along the dorsal edge and a shining yellow-orange face. Colors may vary to other blues and purples depending on the fish's mood. When courting, the male will display an increased color intensity.
The Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse will thrive in either a fish-only or reef aquarium of 90 gallons or larger. It needs a shaded area away from the bright lights. They will not bother corals or invertebrates, making them an ideal fish for the reef aquarium. These wrasse like to jump, so a tight fitting canopy is recommended.
The Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse diet should include vitamin enriched frozen mysis shrimp, vitamin enriched frozen brine shrimp, and other meaty foods along with a high quality marine flake and marine pellet food.

I recently received a Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse, which is in excellent health. At first, it was very timid. I have it in a quarantine tank with live rock. No ectoparasites are evident at this point. It originally only ate mysis shrimp, but it is now feeding on frozen brine and flake. It is a wonderful addition to any non-aggressive fish or reef tank.

We have one of these lovely fish in our 600-gallon reef at the office. Always in view, this fish is quite active but not to excess, and eats like a horse (brine shrimp, various pellet foods, zooplankton). Probably one of the most colorful fish you're ever likely to see adorn a reef aquarium

This is a spectacular fish. It is a timid fish for the first 24-48 hours, hiding in and around live rock and sand. After that, it will swim all over the tank. The specimen that arrived at my house was just magnificent. I had requested the largest size available and LiveAquaria.com accommodated my request. Many thanks LiveAquaria.com!

I loved this fish! He was very active, ate all types of foods, and was beautiful to look at. He was one of my oldest fish until I found him dried to a crisp on top of my glass canopy one evening. Make sure your tank is sealed tight, no opening in my tank's lid is larger than 1" and still somehow he jumped through it. I recommend him to anyone looking for an interesting and easy to care for Wrasse. Just make sure he can't jump out!

Live aquaria.com has an amazing selection of fairy wrasses! I recently purchased my Solon Wrasse for a fish only aquarium and it is thriving. Not only does it have a unique color pattern, but it also has a unique swimming motion. This was a great choice to mix with Tangs, Rabbitfish, and a Juv. Emporer Angel

I have had this fish for about a year and a half. I have it in my 300 gal tank. This is a very active fish in my tank. It eats any and all foods I put in the tank.
