Overview
The Yellow Porites Coral is a small polyp stony (SPS) coral often referred to as the Jeweled Finger, Jewel, or Finger Coral. While the green or yellow branching form is most common, it can also be found in a variety of shapes and color forms. When expanded, the polyps of the Porites coral give it a very fuzzy appearance. The Yellow Porites coral makes a wonderful addition to the established reef aquarium with its distinct yellow coloration.
The Yellow Porites Coral prefers high lighting conditions achieved by T-5 fluorescent, powerful LED, or the more intense metal halide light fixtures. For best care, it is imperative to maintain high water quality for your Yellow Porites Coral, ensuring proper pH, alkalinity, and calcium levels while keeping phosphate and nitrate levels as close to zero as possible. Along with proper lighting and water quality, the Yellow Porites Coral will benefit from strong, intermittent water flow within the aquarium. This can be easily achieved with the addition of powerheads, wavemakers, or water circulation pumps. The Yellow Porites Coral is a peaceful coral with very short tentacles and as such it can generally be placed closer to other peaceful corals in the reef aquarium.
The Yellow Porites Coral satisfies the majority of its nutritional requirements by means of photosynthetic, symbiotic zooxanthellae algae hosted within its body. However, it will benefit from supplemental feedings in the form of micro-plankton, brine shrimp, and other foods designed for filter feeding invertebrates. For continued good health, your Yellow Porites Coral will also benefit from the addition of calcium, magnesium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water.
The Yellow Porites Coral is mounted to a natural "rock-like" plug that can be placed easily and securely in or between rockwork in the reef aquarium.

Customer Testimonials
This is an excellent coral! I received it in outstanding condition and within five minutes it had already revealed its polyps. I look forward to seeing it grow so I can fragment it and get more beautiful specimens out of it. I'll be sure to order my livestock from you from now on. Thanks for the great order.
