Overview

Glossostigma elatinoides, or more commonly referred to as just “Glosso”, is one of the most frequently used foreground plant in contemporary aquarium landscape design. Glossostigma elatinoides is highly coveted for its beautiful, bright green coloration and matting, low-growing habit. It is said that the world-renowned Japanese aquascaping legend, Takashi Amano and his Nature Aquariums brought this humble plant to its current level of recognition revolutionizing its use.

Glossostigma elatinoides is a popular choice among planted aquarium hobbyists interested in creating a lush carpet of greenery that fills their aquarium landscape. It is also popular among hobbyists keeping ornamental freshwater shrimp.

Glossostigma elatinoides does well when provided full spectrum (5000°K-7000°K) lighting of high intensity. Glossostigma elatinoides will maintain a compact, low growing form under ideal growing conditions with high light conditions, CO2 supplementation, and balanced fertilization. Glossostigma elatinoides will develop vertical growth, spindly and unkempt in appearance under lower light conditions.

Please note: This mat plant is shipped attached to a polymer coated metal base that needs to be removed prior to planting.
