Overview

The Captive-Bred Maine Blizzard Clownfish offers a striking “designer” clownfish color morph for your aquarium! The selective breeding of Picasso Clownfish created this gorgeous variant. The name of this predominantly snowy-white clownfish was inspired by New England’s Nor'easter storms infamous for their blinding white snow storms. The Maine Blizzard, with its bright white body, is similar in appearance to the Platinum Clownfish, the Wyoming White, and the Flurry, but it features orange coloration on its fins and nose and exhibits less black than the other variants. As the fish matures more black will develop.

The Captive-Bred Maine Blizzard Clownfish is peaceful and hardy, with a temperament typical of Percula Clownfish. Being captive-bred, it is accustomed to eating a variety of aquarium diets including pellets, flake food, frozen Mysis shrimp, and frozen Brine shrimp. It makes a wonderful choice for novices and seasoned aquarists alike. The Maine Blizzard will thrive in your aquarium with or without an anemone present.

Captive-Bred Clownfish are easy to breed in the home aquarium. The females will be the largest of the pair and the two fish will usually stay close to each other in the aquarium. Clownfish are egg layers and will deposit the eggs on a flat surface and defend the eggs from other tank mates. The eggs will normally hatch in 8-11 days depending on the water temperature. The fry must be reared in a separate aquarium on a diet of rotifers followed by baby brine shrimp.

The Captive-Bred Maine Blizzard Clownfish has a hearty appetite and will accept most meaty foods and frozen herbivore preparations.
