Overview
The Captive-Bred Misbar Blood Orange Clownfish is an intergeneric hybrid demonstrating desirable qualities from both parent species. This boldly colored fish is the result of crossing a female Maroon Clownfish (Premnas biaculeatus) with a male Ocellaris Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris). Misbar Blood Orange Clownfish sport one or more incomplete bars creating a unique morph. While Misbar clownfish varieties are not new to the hobby, they are desirable for the hobbyist looking for a classic clownfish look with a twist which allows the clownfish to be individually recognizable.
The Captive-Bred Misbar Blood Orange Clownfish exhibits large finnage of the Maroon Clownfish and thick barring outlined with black from the Ocellaris Clownfish, resulting in a distinctly showy specimen exhibiting large flowing fins and crisp, bright red coloration. The Captive-Bred Misbar Blood Orange Clownfish makes an excellent addition to almost any saltwater aquarium system. However,we recommend selecting tankmates carefully as the temperament of the Captive-Bred Misbar Blood Orange Clownfish seems to fall somewhere between the Ocellaris and the Goldstripe Maroon.
Captive-bred fish have a unique advantage over wild-harvested species, as they are generally very hardy and more accustomed to conditions found in the home aquarium. Therefore, captive-bred fishes make a great choice for novices and seasoned aquarists alike.
The Captive-Bred Misbar Blood Orange Clownfish is easy to breed in the home aquarium. The females will be the largest of the pair and the two fish will usually stay close to each other in the aquarium. Clownfish are egg layers and will deposit the eggs on a flat surface and defend the eggs from other tank mates. The eggs will normally hatch in 8-11 days depending on the water temperature. The fry must be reared in a separate aquarium on a diet of rotifers followed by baby brine shrimp and calunus.
The Misbar Blood Orange Clownfish diet consists of almost any meaty food items and herbivore preparations.
