The Biota® Captive-bred Blue Striped Clownfish is also known as the Orangefin Anemonefish. It has a brownish orange base color with white stripes and an orange forehead when full grown. The Blue Striped Clownfish gets its namesake from the brilliant white markings which overlay the pigment from the body color beneath which give the stripes a blue sheen or hue. The juvenile Blue Striped Clownfish are yellowish orange in color with white stripes on each side of the body similar to the Clarkii Clownfish.

The Biota Captive-Bred Blue Striped Clownfish has other unique advantages over wild-harvested species. For one, the Captive-Bred Bluestriped Clownfish is very hardy and more accustomed to conditions found in home aquariums. Therefore, it makes a great choice for novices and seasoned aquarists alike. The Captive-Bred Blue Striped Clownfish can also be kept with a variety of other captive-bred clownfish, if introduced into the aquarium at the same time.

Captive-bred clownfish are easy to breed in the home aquarium. The females will be the largest of the pair, and two fish will usually stay close to each other in the aquarium. These fish are egg layers and will deposit the eggs on a flat surface, and defend the eggs from other tank mates. The eggs will normally hatch in 6-11 days depending on the temperature. The fry must be reared in a separate aquarium on a diet of rotifers then baby brine shrimp.

The Captive-bred Blue Striped Clownfish is one of the hardiest and largest clownfish in home aquariums. Adult female Blue Striped Clownfish can grow to 7” in optimal conditions. Therefore, a 50 gallon or larger aquarium containing almost any anemone type is desirable. It is semi-aggressive towards other clownfish and passive tank mates. The Captive-bred Blue Striped Clownfish diet consists of almost any meaty food items and herbivore preparations.
