The HYDROS Skimmer Sensor is a HYDROS Sense Port accessory that provides an easy and accurate way to monitor skimmate (waste) level inside your protein skimmer collection cup. Built specifically to be placed inside the collection cup of a protein skimmer, the HYDROS Skimmer Sensor can be incorporated into your HYDROS Control aquarium controller platform to alert you and take preventive action when the skimmate level reaches your set level. Once properly integrated to your HYDROS Control aquarium controller platform, the HYDROS Skimmer Sensor is powered and controlled by your HYDROS Control aquarium controller. By downloading the FREE HYDROS app, you can control any HYDROS-connected device with your Internet-enabled computer, smartphone, or tablet!

The HYDROS Skimmer Sensor contains no moving parts that can fail. It’s extremely tiny, measuring a little over a half-inch thick with a circumference the size of a US penny. The optical eye is magnetically coupled with the magnet side measuring only 1/4" thick. It can be mounted inside any protein skimmer collection cup up to 1/4" thick. When connected to a HYDROS Sense Port, your HYDROS Skimmer Sensor is powered by your HYDROS Control aquarium controller and requires no additional cords or power bricks for operation.

HYDROS Skimmer Sensor Application Example
Connect your HYDROS Skimmer Sensor into a HYDROS Sense Port. Place the HYDROS Skimmer Sensor inside any protein skimmer collection cup up to 1/4" thick. Secure the optical sensor at the desired level using the magnetic coupling that sits on the outside of the skimmer cup. Once properly configured, the HYDROS Skimmer Sensor can be set to "tell" your HYDROS Control aquarium controller to turn the protein skimmer OFF to prevent overflowing when the waste (skimmate) level in the collection cup rises to the point it makes contact with the optical sensor. Keep in mind that your protein skimmer must be plugged into a HYDROS power source, like the HYDROS 4 Outlet WiFi AC Power Strip or HYDROS Smart WiFi Plug, for this sort of skimmer security to operate.
