Overview

The Red Eye Blue Endler Guppy is one of many unique varieties of Endler's Livebearer offered at LiveAquaria®. The Red Eye Blue Endler Guppy is a red eye variation with a gorgeous golden-yellow body with a beautiful blue sheen. This shimmering blue coloration accentuates the varying shades of red, orange, yellow, and green coloration giving the Red Eye Blue Endler Guppy an incredible iridescent rainbow appearance. This unique color combination gives the Red Eye Blue Endler Guppy an exotic appearance that wonderfully complements its active personality. The Red Eye Blue Endler Guppy makes an excellent choice for any freshwater aquarium hobbyist in search of exceptional coloration to brighten their aquarium landscape.

The Endler's Livebearer was first collected in the 1930’s by Franklyn F. Bond in waters warmer and harder than the typical cooler water habitats livebearers normally prefer. The Endler's Livebearer was later "rediscovered" during the 1970’s by Professor John A. Endler when he collected a colorful variety of Poecilia sp. from Laguna de Patos. in the northeastern part of Venezuela. Interestingly, the Endler’s Livebearer didn’t receive its common name until the 1980’s when colleague Dr. Kallman introduced the term "Endler’s Livebearer" or "Endler's Guppy" to the German aquarium community.

Similar to other live-bearing species, the Endler’s Livebearer is an extremely prolific breeder and hybridizes regularly with fancy guppy strains. Therefore, a classification system has been created so the different variety of Endler’s Livebearers and their origin are easily distinguishable to hobbyists. Any Endler’s Livebearer that can be traced to their native waters in Venezuela are designated as "Class N" Endler. Any Endler's Livebearer of unknown origin appearing to be an Endler’s Livebearer based on its size, shape, and color are deemed "Class P" Endler. Finally, any hybridized Endler’s Livebearer crossed with any other livebearer are considered "Class K" Endler.

Over the years, Endler’s Livebearers have been hybridized with other livebearers (such as Fancy Guppies) to achieve brilliant and unique coloration as seen in the varieties currently offered by LiveAquaria.com as “Class K Endler’s." The closest to "True" (Class N) Endler’s Livebearer we offer is the Red Flame Endler’s Livebearer. Endler's Livebearers are becoming more common in the hobby, and gaining popularity thanks to their wild, psychedelic coloration and ease of care.

House your Red Eye Blue Endler Guppy in an established aquarium of at least 10 gallons in size. It is a very peaceful fish and should be housed with tankmates of similar temperament. Though the Red Eye Blue Endler Guppy is a hardy fish tolerant of small changes in aquarium water parameters, care should be taken to keep water parameters as stable as possible. The Red Eye Blue Endler Guppy makes an excellent fish for hobbyists of all skill levels as it is a hardy and energetic fish great for freshwater community aquariums, biotope aquariums, as well as dedicated breeding colonies.

The Red Eye Blue Endler Guppy is an omnivore that requires both algae-based foods as well as meaty foods. An algae-based flake food, along with freeze-dried bloodworms, tubifex, and brine shrimp will provide guppies with the proper nutrition.
