Overview

Draw wanted attention to your pond or water garden with the show-stopping beauty of the Dallas Water Lily. The hardy Dallas Water Lily produces flowers in an eye-catching fuchsia pink coloration that immediately captures the attention of any visitor to your pond or water garden. The Dallas Water Lily is a reliable bloomer that rewards you with vibrantly-colored blossoms throughout the course of the pond season – from early summer and late into autumn. The petite star-shaped flowers are extremely fragrant and sport a lovely sunset yellow center. The hardy Dallas Water Lily is relatively easy to grow, making it a great water lily for ponds, water gardens, and container water gardens.

Even when it's not in bloom, the Dallas Water Lily provides fantastic visual interest with its ornamental, saucer-like leaves or "pads." Interestingly, the color of the leaves will vary considerably depending on its age. The striking purplish, maroon coloration of new or younger pads gradually transitions to a beautiful bright green coloration. Typical of hardy water lilies, the Dallas Water Lily produces round leaves with smooth edges. The leaf spread (or the amount of water surface area covered by the leaves) is approximately 4 to 6 ft providing much needed shade and protection for your pond fish, as well as a potential spawning site for pondlife.

The Dallas Water Lily should be potted in a two-gallon or larger planting container. To help your newly potted water lily establish itself faster in your pond, place the water lily at an initial depth of six inches below the water surface. As the water lily grows, it can be gradually lowered to its ideal depth of 12-18 inches below the water surface. The Dallas Water Lily does best in sunny conditions where it receives six or more hours of direct sunlight. Zones 4-11.

LiveAquaria® offers two groups of Water Lilies: Tropical Water Lilies that thrive in plant hardiness zones 9-11 and Hardy Water Lilies that thrive in plant hardiness zones 4-11. Be sure to select water lily varieties the are hardy to your zone to enjoy long-lasting beauty.
