Overview

Black Rili Shrimp Neocaridina heteropoda are sure to garner attention in your freshwater aquarium. With black heads and tails, their center sections are a transparent blue color with dark spots dotted throughout, enabling you to view inside. These shrimp cast a beautiful ornamental quality while in their purposeful pursuit for algae and organic debris. As such, Black Rili Shrimp are invaluable members of your aquarium cleanup crew.

Black Rili Shrimp have gained in popularity thanks to their large appetite for all kinds of freshwater algae. They will thrive in planted aquariums where food and shelter are abundant.

If breeding these shrimp, it is important to keep them in a breeder aquarium with a sponge filter. Like all invertebrates, Black Rili Shrimp are sensitive to copper. Copper-based medications should never be used in aquariums housing ornamental invertebrates.

Black Rili Shrimp are omnivores that will consume algae, detritus and left over food. If insufficient food is present, supplement with algae tablets.
