Overview

The Speckled Damselfish Pomacentridae is a marine fish that has bright coloration as a juvenile but loses color as it matures. Also known as the Fire Damsel because of its fiery juvenile coloration: a brown body with orange above its midline and bright blue lines running horizontally from its head to the back of its dorsal fin. The same bright blue outlines the bottom of its anal and pelvic fins. It has an all-white caudal fin. As an adult, the Speckled Damselfish displays an all-around brown color throughout its body with some white on its fins.

Hardy and reef safe, it has a semi-aggressive personality. It can be kept in a pair if both are introduced to the aquarium at the same time. Requiring an aquarium of at least 30 gallons or more, be sure to include live rock that will provide it plenty of hiding places.

This omnivorous member of the Pomacentridae family requires algae-based food such as spirulina, supplemented with small crustacean meat, krill, and zooplankton.
