Overview

The Peppered Cory Cat comes from the tributaries of larger river systems in South America, and is a peaceful bottom dwelling scavenger. The Peppered Cory Cat has black and dark green spots, with a white underside.

The Peppered Cory Cat requires a well-planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places that provide relief from the light. A smooth sand or gravel substrate is needed because of the easily damaged barbels. They enjoy being in numbers, so a small school of six or more is ideal for these cats.

Breeding the Peppered Cory Cat is achieved by keeping a number of these cats together and allowing them to pair off. After spawning, the breeding pair should be separated from the eggs, or the eggs transferred to another system. The fry become waterborne in approximately 5 days, at which time, they should be fed baby brine shrimp and crushed flake food.

The Peppered Cory Cat is omnivorous and will require a well-balanced diet including freeze-dried bloodworms and tubifex, sinking catfish pellets, flake food, frozen, and live foods. Feed a quality flake and pellet food as well as frozen brine and live worms.

I have owned Peppered Cories for 1 year. They live in a commmunity tank with Platies, Otocinclus, Guppies, and Rummynose Tetras. They will come out for food but will dart back into the plants when there is a fast movement. They are very cute and make a great addition to any community aquarium!

Terrific bottom feeder. Very fast moving. This fish is quite easy to take care of and does not get very large. If you don't have a bottom-feeder, pick one of these up!

I have added Cory Catfish to every community tank that I have ever owned. If you have fish that only eat from the surface and refuse to sift through gravel for leftovers, than this fish would be especialy a must in your aquarium.

I have been keeping this fish for almost one year. Keeping it with 2 NeonTetras; the filter accidently stopped working and my whole tank got dirty. When I finally cleaned it and bought a new filter, all of my Tetras died except my Corydoras. Both of them were swimming happily and healthy as ever. They also survived a fungus attack as none of them had gotten the cotton fungus on their body. GREAT fish. They maybe the the next contestants on "Survivor."

Love these little guys, my peppers way out live any other tank mates by years. They are like little tanks, nothing seems to bother them, fish, disease, or medication. I recommend them over plecos any time.
