Overview

The Greenbanded Goby formerly known as Gobiosoma multifasciatum, has since been reclassified as Tigrigobius multifasciatus. This beautiful fish makes a wonderful addition to the smaller reef or fish only aquarium. This small peaceful species is a vivid green with thin iridescent green bands running vertically down the body. A white head with a brownish red band runs across each red eye.

The Greenbanded Goby should be housed in a 10 gallon or larger aquarium. Hovering around rockwork and décor, this species can be housed in small groups of 3 or more individuals.

It is common for the Greenbanded Goby to spawn in an aquarium, laying its eggs in a crevice or empty shell.

These gobies feed on a variety of live and frozen brine shrimp, frozen mysis shrimp, table shrimp, and frozen food preparations for carnivores.

Customer Testimonials

This is definitely a "nano only" fish due to the small size. However, it is a beautiful fish. The representative photo does not capture the bright color and fun personality of this little guy. A wonderful addition!

Even though this fish is shipped halfway across the world like most saltwater fish, it is still hard to come by in pet stores. These are some of the most beautiful gobies I have ever seen. I strongly recommend acquiring at least one.

An unique and comical small fish from the Caribbean that associates with urchins. It is very hardy.

Comical little goby from the western Atlantic. Associates with sea urchin in the wild AND in aquariums. Great personality!
Marilyn Hernandez Holiday , FL
I've had three of these together in a 56 cube for a while now. Though they are pretty small, they definitely make themselves known with their very active and unusual personalities. They occasionally even like to rest nose down, stuck against the glass, and love to dart around and jump for food. They seem to be extremely hardy, and though I was worried about their size in this tank, they have made it home and thrived!
